The Recipe: Build a Brand from Scratch
Just like the food at Bayona Café, this project was entirely homemade. The logo, branding strategy, and design of the website were inspired by two things: The décor of the restaurant – which preserved the exposed brick and beam of the historic Manchester Millyard location – and the backstory of café’s name itself. Starting from there, we let our creative juices flow. Of course, the food is the main course in this recipe, and we showcase it for all to see.
Branding the Story of Bayona
Effective branding reflects the story of the people behind the business. To understand the branding of Bayona Café, you need to know the backstory. When owner Keri Laman was born, her family lived in a basement apartment in Bayonne, New Jersey with one round window. Keri’s father was incredibly proud of this apartment, but with a growing family, the Laman clan headed to the suburbs. So today, the red "O" – seen in the logo, around the café, and represented by Bayona’s signature red plates – honors her father’s favorite window. That’s branding done right.
Easily Digestible Responsive Design
User experience is always the focus here at Altos. Whether coming from a mobile device, tablet, or desktop, the experience for all site visitors should be easy-as-pie to navigate. Showcasing the food with custom-built sliders on the homepage is one thing, but presenting it effectively on the numerous devices that site visitors will use is an entirely different challenge. And that challenge was tackled with time to spare by our design and development teams.
